There are three main series of geotextiles:
1. Needle-punched non-woven geotextile
According to the material, needle-punched non-woven geotextiles can be divided into polyester geotextiles and polypropylene geotextiles; they can also be divided into long fiber geotextiles and short-fiber geotextiles. Needle-punched non-woven geotextile is made of polyester or polypropylene fiber through the acupuncture method, the commonly used specification is 100g/m2-1500g/m2, and the main purpose is the slope protection of river, sea, and lake embankment, flood control and emergency rescue, etc. These are effective ways to maintain water and soil and prevent piping through back filtration. Short fiber geotextiles mainly include polyester needle-punched geotextiles and polypropylene needle-punched geotextiles, both of which are non-woven geotextiles. They are characterized by good flexibility, acid and alkali resistance, corrosion resistance, aging resistance, and convenient construction. Long fiber geotextiles have a width of 1-7m and a weight of 100-800g/㎡; they are made of high-strength polypropylene or polyester long fiber filaments, manufactured with special techniques, and are wear-resistant, burst-resistant, and with high tensile strength.
2. Composite geotextile(Needle-punched non-woven fabric + PE film)
Composite geotextiles are made by compounding polyester short fiber needle-punched non-woven fabrics and PE films, and are mainly divided into: “one cloth + one film” and “two cloth and one film”. The main purpose of the composite geotextile is anti-seepage, suitable for railways, highways, tunnels, subways, airports, and other projects.
3. Non-woven and woven composite geotextiles
This kind of geotextile is composed of needle-punched non-woven fabric and plastic woven fabric. It is mainly used for foundation reinforcement and basic engineering facilities for adjusting permeability coefficient.
